Sister Lora joined the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in 1993 on the eligibility of her father, Joseph Soldi, a World War II veteran.  She also has eligibility through her brother Bob Soldi, who served two tours in Vietnam as a Marine and was awarded the Purple Heart.  But her eligibility doesn't stop there as her oldest son Shawn, served in the US Navy taking part in Operation Joint Endeavor while stationed on the USS Saratoga.  Lora has another son, Joey, who was also in the Navy but didn't serve in a war zone.

During her years as a member of Auxiliary 1829 she served two terms as Auxiliary President.  She was Auxiliary Secretary from 1998-2000, and numerous chairmanships.  On the District level, she served as District President in 1998-1999.  While going through the chairs on the District level, Sister Lora held these chairmanships; Voice of Democracy, Jr. Girls, Cancer Aid and Research, VFW/PAC and Membership. On the Department level Lora has served as Color Bearer for five years as well as Membership Chairman and Youth Activities chairman.
